This mum has added up how many hours she spent breastfeeding in a year

For many mums who breastfeed, it can feel like pretty much all of your time is spent with a baby latched on to your body.

But have you ever wondered exactly how much time you put into feeding? One mum who was curious about this decided to get her calculator out and do the sums. The figures, as you might expect, are pretty huge. Taking to her Instagram page Gypsynspice, Jenny Tamas shared that she'd produced almost 1,300 litres of milk in just one year of breastfeeding her daughter Lilly.

"So, I did the math— I’ve been breastfeeding Lilly for 1 year which means (conservatively) I have fed her from my body 5,475 times, which means (conservatively) I’ve have spent 1,825 hours holding her to my breast, which also means (conservatively) my body has produced 342 gallons (1294.61 litres) of milk. "What I am basically saying is that women have superpowers." Wow. A year of breastfeeding (1,825 hours for this mum) equates to an incredible 76 days - over two months. If you've breastfed for any length of time at all, take a bow. That's a lot of time and a hell of a lot of milk.
