We’ve been saying this Harry Potter quote wrong for nearly 20 years

Harry Potter fans are among some of the most dedicated out there. Yes, those of us who have been enthralled by the wizarding world of young Potter for decades now will feel a strong loyalty to the series. Whether you were a fan on your own, or your kids roped you into it, you're a part of it now and that's all that matters. From buying the merchandise to quoting the film, the series has been a huge part of our lives for decades now. However, it turns out we haven’t been quoting the movie correctly – well, at least when it comes to one spell. Seamus Finnigan makes several attempts to turn his water into rum in the film, and while the spell has now become one of the most famous from the series, it turns out we’ve been saying it wrong this whole time.

“Eye of rabbit, Harpring hum, turn this water into rum.”

That’s how it goes, right? Wrong! Yep, we’ve been getting it wrong this whole time. The spell is actually meant to go a little something like this:

“Eye of rabbit, harp string hum, turn this water into rum.”

The movie came out in 2001, so that means we’ve been saying it wrong for 16 years. Well, now we know.
