UK school under fire for removing privacy wall from girl’s toilets

A school in the UK has received criticism after taking away the privacy wall from the girl's toilets.

The new structure of the toilet is part of a redesign in the school, but parents have called it 'disgusting'. According to The Liverpool Echo, the wall was removed from St Mary's College in Wallasey to avoid bullying, pupils skipping class and smoking. One parent shared two images on Facebook - one showing a CCTV camera looking directly into the new bathroom layout and the second showing the open plan toilets.   Parents commented under the photo saying that their children are now too afraid to go to the toilet and that it won't help with bullying or skipping class. Another parent said:

"They clearly haven’t considered what girls past puberty have to deal with, so to have only one door for privacy without the added security of a room is terrible. There are classrooms opposite the toilets, there is even a camera facing them - for girls between the ages of 11-16 it’s unacceptable.”
