Be careful! Temperatures set to drop to minus three degrees this week

Looks like we could be getting a white Christmas after all.

It is expected that last weekend's mild and dry weather will stay until Wednesday, where we will then see temperatures plummet according to Met Éireann. An artic chill is expected to hit on Thursday morning, causing temperatures to plummet into sub-zero degrees with a possibility of snow in some areas.

Met Éireann meteorologist Vincent O'Neill spoke to the Independent.ie saying: "A much colder air mass will then take charge from Thursday morning. It will be very cold and get progressively colder coming into Friday."

Speaking about the west and north of the country, Vincent said these parts will get hit the worst: "It will get very cold in these parts of Ireland, with temperatures dropping to -3C at night."

Today is expected to be dry again in most areas with temperatures ranging between 8 and 11 degrees.
