Baby Lost In Nice Horror Found Safe, Thanks To Facebook

A baby who disappeared when a lorry ploughed through a crowd of people celebrating Bastille Day in Nice on Thursday night has been reunited with its parents after a social media appeal.  The family had been among the crowds of people watching a fireworks display on the  Promenade des Anglais in the French Riviera town when the horror attack took place, killing 84 people, including ten children, and injuring hundreds more. The parents lost control of their stroller in the chaos, as hundreds fled the carnage in terror. The infant's aunt Tiava Banner posted an appeal on Facebook, asking for information on his whereabouts. It read:

'We have lost BB 8 months.

'Nice friends if you've seen him if you were there if you have collected please contact me!!!!!'

Incredibly, the post, which was shared thousands of times, helped locate the child, who had been found by a caring woman and was being looked after nearby while she searched for his parents.

“Found! Thank you Facebook and all those who helped us.” Banner wrote later. 'Thank you facebook to all those who have helped us and sent messages of support (I won't answer to all really sorry)!!!!!!!'

Another member of the family told AFP: “A young woman found him and took him home with her. She then went online and found the photo of the baby on Facebook.”
