Mum hair alert: The topknot is dead. Long live the banana bun

It'll always have its place (make-up removal, hangovers) but as far as fashion statements go, the top knot is over with a capital O.

Once the preserve of every blogger and bearded barista, the humble knot has dropped from the crowns of the most stylish, with savvy trendsters opting for a low key but chic alternative. Step forward the banana bun.

Think of it like a deconstructed chignon, slung low and loose. And anyone can do it; simply gather your hair to one side, roll it up and pin it loosely in place.
